At this meeting, participants will have the opportunity to discuss with Lucio Caracciolo the situation in Israel, caught between external wars and internal divisions, from the expanded military front – stretching from Gaza to the Strait of Hormuz – to the political and social tensions affecting the Jewish state in the run-up to next autumn’s elections. We will analyse Israel’s situation after more than two years of war: the extended military occupation of the Gaza Strip and the expansion of ‘buffer zones’ that effectively redefine the state’s operational borders. We will then address the internal Israeli crisis and Netanyahu’s manoeuvres ahead of the early elections in October 2026, moving on to the Strait of Hormuz front, which oscillates between escalation and diplomatic overtures.
