At this meeting, participants will have the opportunity to discuss with Lucio Caracciolo the situation in Israel, caught between external wars and internal divisions, from the expanded military front – stretching from Gaza to the Strait of Hormuz – to the political and social tensions affecting the Jewish state in the run-up to next autumn’s elections.

We will analyse Israel’s situation after more than two years of war: the extended military occupation of the Gaza Strip and the expansion of ‘buffer zones’ that effectively redefine the state’s operational borders.

We will then address the internal Israeli crisis and Netanyahu’s manoeuvres ahead of the early elections in October 2026, moving on to the Strait of Hormuz front, which oscillates between escalation and diplomatic overtures.

By the end of the session, participants will have developed a clearer understanding of:

• how the war in Gaza and Israel’s territorial expansion are redefining the balance of power in the Middle East and the Jewish state’s international standing
• the dynamics of Israel’s internal political and social crisis, the outlook for the September/October elections, and possible post-Netanyahu developments
• the strategic implications of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for global energy security and the risks of further escalation
