Today, we "discover" AI much like our distant ancestors discovered fire. If we manage it well, it will become a force for good, illuminating the path for a series of revolutionary inventions. But if we use it recklessly, it will escape our control. This is particularly significant not only for business but also for the stability of our society, our governments, and, in general, for international order.
 
Just weeks away from the first USA election in the "post-Generative AI" era, the risks associated with fake news, public opinion manipulation, and the overall stability of democracies are becoming increasingly evident, shaken by this new technology. Meanwhile, autocratic regimes appear to be able to use it without the constraints faced by liberal regimes.
 
By the end of this meeting, organized together with Egea, participants will have a deeper understanding of:

• AI as the new fire: how democracies can compete with autocracies in the realm of AI and harness its full potential without compromising their ethical and social principles
• how AI can become a risk for our democracies: proliferation of fake news, voter manipulation, bias and discrimination, as well as autonomous weapons and surveillance
• what leaders in government, business, and society can do to prepare for the impact of AI on geopolitical competition.
