Fairy tales and management: communicate, grow, and inspire with narrative metaphors

Centro Svizzero Via Palestro, 2 - 20121 MILANO

Fairy tales may seem like the furthest thing from the "adult" world of business; however, when viewed through the right lens, they can emerge as guides capable of inspiring bold visions, stimulating creativity and lateral thinking, as well as prompting reflections on one's managerial style. Moreover, rich in metaphors, fairy tales prove to be valuable tools for conveying complex concepts in an accessible manner. When used consciously within a team, they can therefore contribute to deciphering complex situations, tackling managerial challenges, and understanding group dynamics.

But what insights can managers extract from fairy tales? And how can they put them into practice?

During this session, participants will explore how stories infused with magic, adventures, and iconic characters can become powerful tools to inspire, motivate, and guide managers through the complexity of their work environment. Through practical examples from the world of writing, storytelling, and emotional intelligence, the infinite potential that emerges when managers integrate the metaphor of fairy tales into their leadership will be examined, enhancing their understanding and suggesting innovative solutions.

  • Emanuele Trevi, literary critic, writer, and winner of the 2021 Strega Prize will lead us into the psychological dimension of the fairy tale from the perspective of writing. In particular, he will emphasize how fairy tales are not invented but project the writer's soul, creating a bridge - the metaphor - between the internal and external worlds
  • Stefano Centonze, author and expert in emotional intelligence, will present the fairy tale as a tool for personal growth. In doing so, he will present his Creative Autobiographical Method, which, through the use of the Fairy Tales Technique, aims at rationalizing and reflecting on oneself and one's belonging team
  • Bianca Boriello, a communication and storytelling expert, will delve into the importance of building engaging corporate narratives using the structure of fairy tales. Specifically, she will share best practices for communicating the company's vision, goals, and values through captivating and metaphorical stories.

A networking aperitivo will follow the meeting for participants.
