The challenge for our future: a new smart, equitable and sustainable economy to build

The recent energy crisis, triggered by the Ukrainian conflict, has further challenged the old economic models that the pandemic had already eroded. There is a growing awareness among people and companies that the economy and the way we do business needs to be rethought to make it fit for achieving a more sustainable future, both in terms of the environment and society.

How can we rethink the global economy aiming at autonomous and net-zero energy systems? How to act sustainably to foster socio-economic prosperity?

During this meeting, Jeffrey Sachs, economist and leading expert on sustainable development, will share with participants a reflection on sustainability and how a radical change is needed not only in net-zero energy systems but also in the ethical-social dynamics that go along with these changes.

In particular, the following aspects will be explored:

  • Global economy and new economic models of sustainable development
  • The challenge of decarbonization for a green transition
  • Goals for the best possible future: economic, ethical and social sustainability.
