Fairy Tales and management: harnessing your leadership style by drawing inspiration from story protagonists

Centro Svizzero Via Palestro, 2 - 20121 MILANO

Fairy tales may seem like the furthest thing from the "adult" world of business; however, when viewed through the right lens, they can emerge as guides capable of inspiring bold visions, stimulating creativity and lateral thinking, as well as prompting reflections on one's managerial style. Moreover, rich in metaphors, fairy tales prove to be valuable tools for conveying complex concepts in an accessible manner. When used consciously within a team, they can therefore contribute to deciphering complex situations, tackling managerial challenges, and understanding group dynamics.

But what insights can managers extract from fairy tales? And how can they put them into practice?

During this session, participants will explore how stories infused with magic, adventures, and iconic characters can become powerful tools to inspire, motivate, and guide managers through the complexity of their work environment. Through practical examples from the world of writing, psychology, and emotional intelligence, the infinite potential that emerges when managers integrate the metaphor of fairy tales into their leadership by increasing their understanding of their own style and opening the door to that of the future.

  • Emanuele Trevi, winner of the Strega Prize 2021, through the analysis of the characters in the Pinocchio fairy tale, will make the writer explore reality through the writer's lens. In doing so, he will emphasize the value of fairy tales as metaphors for real life, capable of making us reflect on what surrounds us from a different point of view
  • Stefano Centonze, author and expert in emotional intelligence, will present the fairy tale as a tool for personal growth. In doing so, he will present his Creative Autobiographical Method, which, through the use of the Fairy Tales Technique, aims at rationalizing and reflecting on oneself and one's management style
  • Erica Poli, a psychologist and psychotherapist, will transform the characteristics of fairy tale characters into a metaphor for different leadership styles. Her analysis will highlight both the positive and negative aspects of each, to inspire participants to reflect on and improve their managerial skills.

A networking aperitivo will follow the meeting for participants.

Attendees will receive a copy of the book "La casa del mago" by Emanuele Trevi.
